children and me- sketchPaula Mc Cabe is the director of Silver Bell Nursery and has been working as an early childhood educator since 2004. Her work has varied between working in a private preschool setting to assisting in the Kindergarten at the San Francisco Waldorf School. She loves her work with the young child, watching them grow and develop into motivated, kind, confident and happy children through her guidance and direction. Paula has received training from the Waldorf Teacher Training College at Fair Oaks in Davis, Ca as well as completing early childhood classes at San Francisco City College. She also has a Masters degree in Chinese Medicine and draws from that knowledge to ensure the health and well being of the children through diet and life style. Paula was born and raised in Ireland and has been living in the U.S. for the last 34 years. In her spare time Paula loves to be with her family, hike and tend the garden in the Grace Marchant Gardens on the Filbert Steps. She lives in North Beach with her husband and has two children who are now away in college.

Tana Quincy Arcega was born and raised in Nebraska where on a clear night one can see a starry sky all the way to the horizon for 360 degrees.  Childhood in Nebraska meant learning to sew and garden, mud fights at the creek and lots of free-range play. Her interests led her to study music as well as visual art.  She plays piano, guitar, ukulele, percussion, sings and writes music.  She worked as a portrait artist at Sea World and Legoland for several years before obtaining a BFA from the University of Nebraska in Comprehensive Studio Art with an emphasis on painting and sculpture, and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art with an emphasis on figurative painting.  After grad school, Tana worked as a visual art instructor at several colleges and adult continuing education programs while developing her own studio painting practice.  She shows her art locally as well as nationally and works out of her studio in the Mission neighborhood of San Francisco.Tana has taught outdoor preschool in Golden Gate Park for 2 years. In addition, she has worked with young children as a daycare worker, van driver, and nanny.  When not working, Tana loves to camp, rock climb and watch nature documentaries with her husband and daughter.

Substitute Teacher

Caitlin Connolly  has been an early childhood educator and preschool teacher since 2000. Caitlin’s training in early childhood education is in the Waldorf approach to educating the young child. Caitlin also has a practice as a postpartum doula for families with infants, helping them begin the wonderful journey of parenthood in a positive and confident way. She is a San Francisco native and currently lives with her husband and three children in the Inner Sunset neighborhood.
